“I have met with such kindness, sensitivity and friendship since joining you all that it quite overwhelms me at times. It seems that “A Splash of Red” is so much more than a group of women coming together just to sing…” A member, February 2015.
“love choir and my choir pals so much xxx” A member, May 2016.
“A day of song and happiness… energetic, fun loving, enthusiastic Splash of Red” A member, September 2016.
I am very proud of you and thrilled to be part of such a fantastic group of singers who happen to be great gals as well. What could be better than that? A member, October 2017
In “A Splash of Red” we welcome anyone who enjoys singing. Why not come and give us a go? No audition is needed, you don’t have to be able to read music (although most of us like to use notation in practices) and you don’t have to have any previous choir experience to join us. Our members mostly live within about a 15 mile radius of Fairford.
We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 8pm to 9.45 pm at Fairford Primary School hall. If you’d like to sing with us, come along on a Thursday evening to join in or just listen. We have a coffee break (please bring your own mug). Or send us a message via the Contact page.
For performances we wear plain black with a ‘splash of red’, such as a flower, scarf or necklace. We enjoy the chance to look a little glamorous! At concerts we always sing from memory. We find that helps us perform more expressively and connect with our audiences.
We are members of Making Music and are listed on British Choirs on the Net.
We charge subs of £20 a term (or £50 a year in advance). While this is much less expensive than many choirs, we ask members to purchase their own music, if they wish to have copies. In this way they can choose which pieces they want. If people leave, we are happy to arrange to purchase it from them.
